Food-Grade Plate Heat Exchanger

Food-grade plate heat exchangers are specialized hygienic heat transfer equipment engineered for food, beverage, dairy and other sanitation-critical manufacturing sectors. Centered on corrugated metal plates as core heat transfer components, these units deliver high-efficiency heat exchange between hot and cold fluids through narrow flow channels formed between plates, supporting core production processes including material heating, cooling, pasteurization and temperature holding.

 

Unlike standard industrial plate heat exchangers, this sanitary series features full hygienic construction. Every detail from material selection and flow channel geometry to gasket solutions complies strictly with global food-contact safety criteria such as FDA, 3-A and FCM certifications, eliminating cross-contamination risks for raw materials while balancing superior thermal performance and product quality retention. Selected wide-flow-channel variants are available to process pulp- and fiber-containing beverages without clogging.

  • Premium Hygienic & Safe Construction: Heat transfer plates are primarily fabricated from corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel or titanium alloy with surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μm, eliminating dead zones where residue could accumulate. All sealing gaskets are manufactured from FDA-approved elastomers including NBR, EPDM and VITON.

  • Gentle & High-Efficiency Heat Transfer: Uniform flow channel layout eliminates localized overheating or undercooling zones, minimizing nutrient loss and flavor degradation of heat-sensitive materials such as milk and fruit juice. Perfectly matched for pasteurization, UHT sterilization and other low-impact thermal processes.

  • Modular Design for Easy Maintenance: Bolted assembly (no permanent welding) allows flexible adjustment of heat exchange area by adding or removing plates, or reconfiguring plate arrangements to fit variable process conditions. Full disassembly enables thorough mechanical cleaning to reduce fouling buildup and extend continuous production runtime.

  • Energy-Saving & Stable Operation: Counter-flow and parallel-flow configurations maximize logarithmic mean temperature difference with negligible heat loss, removing the need for extra thermal insulation. Pressure drop is only one-third of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. When integrated with waste heat recovery cycles (e.g., using hot sterilized dairy streams to pre-cool incoming raw milk), thermal efficiency exceeds 90%.

  • Food Additive & Edible Oil Processing: Handles heating of viscous media like syrups and honey to lower viscosity for smooth pumping, plus post-processing cooling for convenient storage. Accelerates cooling of refined edible oils to reduce oxidation and rancidity, locking in long-term product stability.
     

  • Other Sanitary-Grade Applications: Widely adopted for temperature control in household care and cosmetic raw material production, meeting strict high-cleanliness and food-contact safety requirements.
